Manifesto Wins “Best of Show” at 2018 Milwaukee 99 Awards

11 OCTOBER 2018

On Thursday, October 11, 2018 Manifesto took home “Best of Show” at the United Adworkers annual Milwaukee 99 Awards. The award show celebrates the best 99 selections of advertising in a number of categories from agencies and companies across the Milwaukee area. The most coveted prize, the Best in Show wrench, was awarded to the team for Arby’s #MeatSweats, a carnivore creation of sweatpant delight.

Gaining 92 million earned impressions in less two weeks, and generating thousands of social responses from meat enthusiasts across the US, the campaign was picked up on national news outlets ranging from Fox and Friends, HypeBeast, Teen Vogue, Late Night With Seth Meyers to Fox News affiliates across the country.

In total, Manifesto took home four merit awards, a Gold for Best Consumer Social Media Campaign and a Silver for Best Consumer Advertising Photography Campaign—as well as Best in Show.

“I felt like it was one big marketing bear hug,” said Noel Haan, Executive Creative Director at BBDO Minneapolis, and one of the show’s four judges. “I liked that the team didn’t take the concept or themselves too seriously. It’s a stupid smart idea and they executed both extremes masterfully.”

In addition to the work on #MeatSweats, the team also received merits for their work on Driftless: The 2017 Gift Guide and the Courage Pin program.

This is the first time the agency has taken home the top prize, but hopefully will not be the last.

The Milwaukee 99 also honored two new inductees to the Milwaukee Advertising Hall of Fame, Elaine Eisner and Jim Weller.
