Shark_Shoe_Toms_x900 Blake Mycoskie, founder of TOMS Shoes was inspired by a shark tagging adventure during Summit at Sea hosted by Summit Series. With the connection facilitated by Summit Series, coined the Davos of Generation Y, TOMS connected with University of Miami to create a custom shoe that drives dollars back to the world's oceans. As part of this cultural platform, we are thrilled to work with University of Miami and their continuing innovation-focused platform to engage everyday citizens around Citizen Science.

Manifesto, University of Miami Partner on Exploration Science Initiative

 

In partnership with University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science and National Geographic, Manifesto is helping to actualize a long-awaited educational outreach program called "Exploration Science." Enrolling everyday citizens on scientific missions around the globe, the program will serve as a frontline mechanism for research and community outreach. Through the program groups, individuals and partner entities are enabled to join University researchers for experiential science excursions as well as virtual expeditions. Developing the look, feel and focus of the program, Manifesto is working with University professor and National Geographic Explorer of the YearKenny Broad as well as Rose Mann, Assistant Dean of Advancement. Expeditions willl include shark tagging, cave diving, hurricane hunting and deep ocean exploration among others.
